The chapter picks up with Isagi committed to the duel he chose at the end of 359. Having refused to play the obedient-soldier role that England’s coach Fox demands, Isagi goes straight at Teddy Knight — England’s star, and the one player the system leaves unmarked. It is a deliberate provocation, and for most of the chapter it does not work.

Teddy answers it with movement rather than force. The chapter gives him a stop-start acceleration that breaks Isagi’s read even with Metavision active: Isagi tracks the whole pitch, and still gets beaten by a player who changes pace inside the space he has already accounted for. It is the first time this arc has framed Metavision as insufficient rather than decisive, and the chapter does not soften it — Isagi loses the duel twice before he starts looking for another explanation.

The explanation is where the chapter turns. England’s discipline is not something Fox has imposed on them. The players chose it, and they chose it while wanting the same World Cup win Japan wants. That lands as a genuine problem for Isagi specifically, because his entire method depends on finding and provoking the ego underneath a system. There is no suppressed ego to find, and the chapter leaves him without the lever he has used against every opponent so far.

England then convert. Teddy takes the ball wide and crosses, and Lockhart — on as a substitute, in the air, against Reo and Aiku — heads it in to make it 2-1. The chapter frames the goal as the consequence of the mindset reveal rather than a separate event: England attack as a unit because that is what they want, and Japan’s attempt to break the unit is what opens the space for the cross.

The closing beat is Teddy explaining what drives him. It is not self-affirmation. He draws his strength from feeling inadequate, and the chapter ends with him telling Isagi that this is something Isagi will not understand — which sets 361 up as a Teddy-backstory chapter rather than an immediate rematch.

Kaneshiro has been running the U-20 World Cup since chapter 303 and the England match as a thesis test for Isagi: what happens when the opponent’s ego is expressed collectively instead of individually? Chapter 360 answers that with a loss, which is the more useful outcome. It also retroactively justifies chapter 359’s substitution — pulling Agi for playing on his own was not punishment for selfishness, it was Fox enforcing a philosophy that the squad already shares.

The Lockhart goal is well set up. Chapter 359 introduced him as the physically dominant replacement, and 360 uses him for exactly the thing teams like this are built to do: convert a cross. He is not a rival for Isagi to out-think, he is the mechanism that punishes Isagi for chasing the wrong problem.

The open question for 361 is whether Blue Lock lets Japan adjust through a substitution of its own. Kunigami and Shido have not been used, Japan is behind for the first time in this tournament, and the chapter leaves the coaching decision unmade — which is the most interesting lever it hands the next chapter.
